DaLat

Our drive inland took us to the highland town of Dalat – we had been warned it was colder up here but we were not expecting something that resembled a British Winter (or should I say Summer?)!! With the wind howling and rain iminent we had to delve deep into our bags to find suitable clothing – now dressed in trousers, pack-a-mac and socks & sandals (we sent our shoes home from Oz) we headed out to get some dinner. We managed to eat just in time, getting back before the heavens opened leaving ourselves with an evening spent in our room reading – this is not making for exciting travelling! The next day things had not improved, we managed a long lie in to kill some time as the storm engulfed the town and once our bodies would not allow us to rest any longer we found cover in the hotel foyer and used the internet for the next 3hrs! Travelling in the rain is no fun! By 1pm it was still raining but maybe not as heavy (or at least not at the point we decided to venture out for lunch), we managed to stay out all afternoon walking around the town...occassionally ducking in for a quick coffee or baguette when the rain got heavy! Needless to say we found none of the charm to Dalat that the guidebook talks about, but with more rain forecast we weren't prepared to hang around in the cold to find out, so we headed off the next morning back down to the coast - and hopefully some sun!?!
Travelling ain't looking so glamerous now, eh?
