Jaipur, Pushkar

Left Manali on a overnight bus destined for Delhi a journey not without drama..namely 2 punctures and over an hour in the middle of the night stuck in gridlock, not sure how we came to find traffic at that hour but it delayed our arrival by over 3 hours, perfect timing for delhi's heat to have built up. After much confusion and arsing around we eventually made it to the bus station only to find the bus we wanted for Agra (Taj Mahal's home) went from a different station on the other side of town..these helpful Indians are about as much use as a chocoloate teapot!!
Spur of the moment decision we abandoned our plans and opted instead to head over to Rajaistan and the city of Jaipur a mother of a journey for our poor ass'es.. This City has a Pink walled old town with a few temples and places of interest, but nothing to make it the touristy town that it is complete with swanky hotels..what people do here is a mystery to fill there time as we were bored after 1 day and moved on swiftly..
Next stop was the traveller haunt of Pushkar meant to be a haven of long haired, bearded weed smoking travellers and a really 'holy' place to hang out, however not being interseted in religion we had our reservations about the town.. We were proved right as it is a 1 streeted tourist shop bazaar that is joined by a labyrinth of windy lanes full of motorcycles, cows, people and of course rubbish.. Its saving grace is its central lake that is very picturesque especially at sunset, spoilt only by buskers and beggars.. We amazingly managed to fill 4 days here doing very little other than eat, watch TV and sweat alot...oh and hang out by our guesthouses swimming pool!!!

Getting kitted out local style, check out the onlookers in the mirror!!
