Perth and the end of our OZ Adventure

Having flown in from Uluru we were pleased to be able to beat the system and save ourselves $12 by catching public bus, not the overpriced airport shuttle that you are told is the 'only' way into town!! With this small victory under our belt we were horrified to find that getting an equal bargain for accomodation would not be so easy! Everywhere was fully booked, eventually finding an ok place - but having checked in we still spent a further two hours wandering the streets trying to find somewhere better to move to tomorrow, eventually two nights of sleeping in a swag caught up with us and we collapsed into our beds! Turns out the YHA with their posh newly converted St John's Ambulance building was offering by far the best deal in town - so this became our home for the following three nights!
Perth itself is a very relaxing, clean city and the fact the sun shone everyday gave it a real pleasant feel and it was a great place to chill out at the end of our Oz adventure! For all it was the middle of their winter it was no colder than a mild Autumn's day making for ideal conditions to spend our days exploring the many shops the city has to offer! We managed to fill our three days with a mixture of shopping, strolling in the park and generally tying up all the loose ends in Oz before the next part of our travels in Asia. As the temperatures in Asia seem to rarely drop below 30 degrees we made the conscious decision to send home all our warm gear including sleeping bags and shoes - our bags our now positively tiny (less than 10kg each).

The Perth Skyline, and our box of goodies!

Not sure what Doug was doing planting a tree out in Perth?

Ladies & Gentlemen - "Coon & Goon"

We celebrated the end of Oz with our long awaited "Coon & Goon Night" - 'Goon' of course being the boxed wine and 'Coon' being Ozzies favourite make of cheese (tasteless chewy rubber)! A rather sophisticated way to finish our Oz experience, which in a brief summary has all been "Too Easy!!" Still good fun but we're looking forward to getting our teeth back into some 'proper' challenging travelling, being in Oz is not travelling it's like being on one long package holiday!
So from here we head off to Singapore and back onto budget travels.....
Our oh so small bags...and the ever faithful 'Winnie The Pooh!'
