Sydney to Byron...more Surfing!

As we are rubbish at sitting on the beach and doing nothing we decided that we really wanted to give this Surfing malarky our best shot....so rather than just catch the Greyhound bus up North we decride to splash out on yet another 4 days surf instruction, this time as part of a 'Surf Tour' that took us up along the coast stopping at different beaches each day for more surfing!!! It turned out that the guys that run this trip were actually more keen on partying, and the equipment was really bad....not ideal for helping us the progress further with our surfing! After our first day surfing we stayed in their purpose built Surf Lodge, complete with bar, the true backbone to this tour was revealed as they got everyone to pay into an 'All You Can Drink' bar tab and soon got the drinking games started!!! We had a great night but the hangover the following day certainly didn't help to improve anyones surfing technique! The week continued along the same lines, always making sure the bus stopped off at a Bottleshop everyday to stock up with the necessary evenings beverages!! It was pretty disappointing as we had really hoped this week would take us from novice to intermidiate, but as it happened at times it felt like we actually had got worse! But I can't say we didn't have fun, the instructors were real characters, proper surfer dudes (with only about 10 brain cells among them!) and they really kept the atmosphere buzzing!!! Awesome man!! So we're now in Byron Bay and the weather is gorgeous....at last we have found the Sun, Sea and Sand that Chris was expecting of Australia....
