Southlands

The journey South took us through some pretty dull scenery...all flat fields and sheep (reminded us of home!), until we arrived at the City of Invercargil - as the name suggests it has stong ties to Scotland! The Scotts once again chose to inhabit the coldest/windiest parts of these islands - but we were quietly impressed by the city, it seemed to have everything you needed, in this case new shoes and trousers for us! We only spent the one day in the city, heading down the next day to Lands End (or Bluff as they call it) ...the Southern end of the State Highway!

We now headed back up North, via the East coast this time through The Catlins National Park, which featured many disappointing highlights, although we did come across a particularly beautiful waterfall, a beach with Sea Lions roaming free and the stunning Nugget point. The highlight however was an amazing night on a secluded beach with a couple of English guys - who already had the camp fire set up and were intent on feeding us Jim Bean while we gazed at the never ending stars above. ROCK ON!

Probably the furthest I'll ever get from London! Fantastic!

McLeads Waterfall....it carried on for a further few tiers below this!

Bit of an ugly bugger!

A beautiful day at Nuggets Point
