Chile - The Final Chapter

We arrived in San Pedro de Atacama (Northern Chile) at around midday having completed our final frontera crossing!!! This place is Gringo-Ville, we hated it and it was bloody expensive (prices are all identicle to back home)!! So stayed only one night making full use of bed, catching up on the last 3 nights bad sleep! We left the following day (monday 22nd Jan) on our last ever night bus (at least till we get to Oz) to La Serena on the coast 7hrs North of Santiago where we had a relaxing 3 days of chilling by the beach, sampling the cheap Chilian vino and organising BBQ at the hostel (Georgie in her element, and I didn't do too badly cooking a mighty fine bit a steak!)...From La Serena we caught the bus to Santiago and having done the token wandering about the capital's streets we realised like every other big City there is nowt to do apart from spend money which at these prices is never gonna happen so instead we made the most of our hostels outdoor space and swimming pool (yes our first hostel with a pool a mighty fine idea). We got steaming drunk on our last night in South America on more cheap wine in our hostel and today we are recovering whilst waiting for our flight out of here tonight( 28th Jan). We´ve loved out time in Central and South America its being a fantastic experience not easy travelling but very rewardable and a great sense of achievment is felt by both myself and George, our pigeon Spanglish has done us proud!!! Our final costs for the last 4.5 months have totalled 2,500 pounds...so there's a note to any of you out there who have jealously been reading this, you too can afford it!!!!
Bring on NZ!!!!!
