Costa Rica

A very short visit to Costa Rica....caught bus to San Jose, stayed in Hostel Tranquillos, after being screwed by taxi driver who pretended he didn't know way and drove us round in circles, on the meter!!!! Hostel was cool, especially in the morning when we made our free pancakes with lashings of maple syrup....we had 3 large pancakes each which kept us stuffed for the rest of the day!!! Managed to find Mexicana airways office and get refund on the flights we'd had to buy when leaving mexico (our only reason for coming to San Jose). Sorted out TICA bus tickets for that evening....departing at 10pm for the 16hr journey to Panama City!

Spent rest of day wandering around the city....a bit of a culture shock compare to where we have been for the last 5 weeks....very american...McDonalds, Wendys, big department stores etc,....we were pleased to manage to buy food for the day and our bus journey for less than 10$!!! Made full use of free coffee and internet at the hostel, left that evening after gormet meal cooked by george in hostel kitchen!

Onto Panama....
